The first thing we love from these headsets is their build quality because they are very sturdy and made from good quality plastic with some metal parts, while similarly weighing at about 0.8 lbs.
They have different approaches when it comes to fashion however, because if the Arctis is looking like any music or typical headsets, the A50 is flashy so you will know it is a gaming headset right off the bat. The styling is fine but personally we are not a fan of bright colored peripherals. The two have a matte finish, and oval ear cups shape and padding. As for Arctis, besides the ear cups backplate that can be removed, the microphone can be retracted as well.

Now moving further, let’s see the most important part of these headsets and it is the sound quality. When it comes to sound quality, most people seem to prefer sound that is heavy on the lower frequency and this is what Astro A50 and Arctis Pro Wireless are offering. They are pretty well balanced on the bass range but also not as boomy so rather than thump, they are just balanced with Arctis Pro slightly flatter. The treble range is also quite accurate and while there might be some dips, overall vocals and instruments are still present and detailed.
In the other area the two are proven to have good imaging which means the bass will sound tight while treble stays transparent but the soundstage is better in A50 thanks to the porous pads that helps the sound to feel more “open”. As gaming headsets they are featured with virtual surround sound as well, with A50 comes with Dolby 7.1 and the Arctis has DTS surround sound. Performance wise, it can be affected by taste but personally we are more familiar with Dolby and while they are not great, the two sound just okay.

Next we want to talk about their ease of use which as a wireless headsets can be quite annoying as you will find tons of small buttons on the unit. In comparison, we personally like how the layout is arranged in Arctis with control dial and microphone mute switch on the left ear cup. The Astro A50 is actually very simple with volume, switching between EQ and presets, as well as Dolby button for surround sound but these buttons are not as comfortable as those in Astro.

The last part is for comfort and this can be very subjective. All of them have specific technology in order to deliver the best performance but between Astro A50 and Arctis Pro Wireless, overall we like the A50 better. The reason is it produces sound quality at almost the same level or probably even sounds better for some people than Arctis at a more affordable price point. It is also more comfortable for prolonged use with cushiony padding and soft cover.
