Gaming Headset

Video games are very popular nowadays and the fact that we can only play them in a console back then is no longer relevant to this day and age when you can play on compact devices like smartphones and tablets. The newer smartphones can play heavy games already depending on which seem to meet your expectation and what games you are playing. Compared to consoles, PC gaming is also gaining so much popularity, moreover you can build the gear from scratch to improve the specs.

With the increasing number of players, the wider as well the market for video games related products including the gaming headsets. We may never heard about this special device decades ago but it is everywhere now. Gaming headsets are very similar to regular headsets such as MPOW 071 Vs Logitech H390 but they are not the same as well. You can use any of the two for gaming but the experience may vary so it is wise to consider what you need before making a decision.

The reason why we are choosing a headset is for the convenience because it combines headphone and built-in microphone. Most headphones have built-in microphones as well but they are not the boom mic that we can adjust its placement or close enough to the mouth. A headset is easy to wear and easy to communicate with, especially if it is wireless because we can move around while still listening or talking to the mic.

The difference between regular headsets to a gaming headsets is usually on the sound quality. Regular headset is often used in a business setting such as customer service but they can be mediocre in terms of sound quality since the purpose is for communication. In some cases they are still good for regular music listening purposes as well but not all will sound the same. On the other hand, a gaming headphone is often distinguished based on the design.

Gaming aesthetics is very prominent and styling can be in your list of factors to consider. But, on the inside they tend to boost the lower frequency to deliver the nuance of your games more effectively and sometimes this can overpower the rest of the frequencies. This is why they are not very suitable for regular music but there are options that can balance things out and in addition there is this surround sound technology which is supposed to increase the accuracy and tells you where the sound comes from so we can use it to guess the target position.

About Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro

There are lots of great headphones and headsets in the market, sometimes the choice is just which of them feels better for you. It is difficult to say certain headphones or headsets are better because there are lots of factors to the way how their sound is received by our ears and this is naturally affected by the shape or size of our ears even including whether or not you wear glasses while using the device. However, for convenience you can purchase the popular gaming headsets too.

This way our choice will have a higher chance to actually please you as what’s loved by many people must have a certain quality that makes the product work for them. In the gaming segment, we have plenty of famous names like Razer and Logitech but Corsair is also a great choice to consider. This brand carries some of the most interesting and affordable options for gamers so we don’t have to spend too much for the device. They also carry several to choose from in case the best-selling is not as attractive to you.

For those who want to keep the budget low, the Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro will be two promising options to consider. They are affordable and loved by many for their sound quality and price point. We do think if you like the type of sound Void produces, you will like the HS70 Pro as well because they are quite similar. However, the headsets are not the same and not only the sound, the two are prominently different in the type of styling which may affect how the device will sit on the head.

In comparison, we recommend going with HS70 Pro unless you prefer the design of Void RGB Elite because the latter is more universal. Our favorite part from Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro is the wireless functionality because it is very convenient if you will be moving around much from the seat. As for the HS70 Pro, this headset is available in two versions the V1 and V2 but they are identical and it seems that the upgrade is on the firmware instead.

Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro Design

Aesthetic choice can be different and it is highly personal but some people may like how the Void RGB Elite is designed while the other may prefer a milder look like the HS70 Pro. These headsets are very different from each other and the angular ear cup in Void can be too big for some people while the rounded HS70 Pro is more universal. The type of pad cover is also different because HS70 Pro is using mesh fabric while the latter is synthetic leather.

The build quality is good but nothing amazing as well and in comparison the HS70 Pro is slightly firmer as the headband doesn’t bend as much as the Void. The housing is made of plastic and none are portable as well so wearing them outdoors can be challenging and while personally we can manage with HS70 Pro, we don’t think the Void will look as comfortable out there.

Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro Sound Quality

There are so many good headphones and headsets in the market. For gaming purposes, the Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro are very reliable. Now let’s hear how the sound is coming from the two starting from the bass range. In comparison the HS70 Pro is more balanced throughout the low frequency and is quite accurate as well. Both are over emphasizing the high-bass to produce warmness but the low bass is more prominent on the latter which creates better thump and rumble for music or games sound effects.

The mid-range are similarly good on both headphones but the response is flatter on the HS70 Pro so if you will listen to a song with this headset, the vocals and lead instrument will be well produced. As for the treble range, Void is better here as it is more consistent and instruments or bright vocals will get its liveliness from the slight boost which is rather dampened on the HS70 Pro.

Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro Control

Next let’s talk about the controls in Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro which are not surprisingly very much the same. Being wireless headsets, the two are housing all the controls on the earcups itself but there is not much we can do here. What you can control from the device is only sound volume and the microphone mute/unmute functions. These buttons are easy to find and they have decent feedback as well but nothing special. As for further control we can use the iCUE software on the computer.

Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro Comfort

Lastly we want to talk about the comfort of Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro but this can be highly subjective to which seems to match your head shape or preference the most. In comparison we prefer the HS70 Pro because it is rounded and more universal just like most headphones or headset. The ear cup is not too deep so it is ideal for small to medium ears but, this headset also has a tighter pressure on our ears than Void RGB Elite.

The Void headset is rather loose so we do think it will be better for people with bigger heads or those with larger hairstyles. They are comfortable but the HS70 Pro doesn’t move around as much as the Void and we also feel that this headphone stays on the center of the head while the Void is slightly forward.

Corsair Void RGB Elite vs HS70 Pro

Both Corsair Void RGB Elite and HS70 Pro are good headsets, depending on which seems to match you the most. In terms of sound quality, the bass and mid-range of HS70 Pro is more neutral and overall the headset sounds the same across users. On the other hand Void requires a better sealing and the experience may vary depending on how well the headset sits on the head. The HS70 Pro has a tighter fit however so it may not be as comfy for users with bigger heads or large hairstyles.
